Beyond minimum licensing
Structured education and practical development build on what the provincial licence requires.
Protection & Security Commission
The Protection & Security Commission (PSC) is an independent Canadian professional association that sets training and professional standards for private security. Our personnel train to the PSC standard on top of their provincial licence.
PSC develops professional standards, education and certification for security professionals working in event, retail, commercial, residential, hospitality and specialized environments. Its programs take officers beyond the minimum requirements of licensing.
Security licences in Alberta are issued by the provincial government under the Security Services and Investigators Act. Every officer Barry Enterprises deploys holds one.
PSC is a private professional association. PSC training or membership is not a government licence, regulatory designation or authorization to provide security services.
Structured education and practical development build on what the provincial licence requires.
Officers on event, retail, corporate and residential posts work to the same professional standard.
Standards for supervision, reporting, documentation and ethical conduct carry through to every post.
Each officer’s Alberta security licence is checked before deployment and kept on file.
Completed PSC training is recorded for each officer.
Supervisors observe officers on post and review their reports for accuracy and judgment.
Questions about PSC training or membership go directly to the Protection & Security Commission.
