Construction sites hold tools, copper, fuel and equipment behind a temporary fence, and they sit empty every night and weekend. Stolen materials cost far more than their price once you count the delay to trades and inspections.
Get the basics right
- Keep fencing intact and gates locked, and check them at the end of every day
- Light the perimeter and the areas where materials are stored
- Lock up tools and small equipment, and keep high-value deliveries on a just-in-time schedule
- Keep an up-to-date list of equipment, with serial numbers where possible
Control who comes and goes
During the day, gate control with a sign-in log for trades and deliveries makes it clear who is on site. That record also helps if something goes missing.
Choose the right after-hours coverage
Large sites, sites with high-value materials and sites that have already been hit usually need a guard on post overnight. Smaller or lower-risk sites are often well covered by randomized mobile patrols. Camera monitoring can add another layer when it is backed by a team that can respond.
Document everything
If an incident does happen, a time-stamped report written at the time makes insurance claims and police files far easier. Barry Enterprises guards and patrol officers file a report after every shift or visit.
